OT: State Nicknames

I found this website with explanations behind every states nickname, which is very interesting. Here it is.

Very cool! I did not enjoy history or civics classes when I was in school, but I just eat that stuff up now!

I was born in the Sunflower State, grew up in the Mountain State, went to college/lived/taught in the Buckeye State and now live in the Wolverine State. This weekend, I am going to visit the Keystone State.

Interesting information about my state, California! We are nicked named "The Golden State" because of the Goldrush in the mid 1800's, but our state's flower is also the Golden Poppy too!...AND we have The Golden Gate Bridge! HA!

I may have complained about the lack of snow this winter, but there is no place like home! CALIFORNIA forever! AGPLA!!!!!..in CALIFORNIA!!! Heeee-Hawwww!

Georgia has several nicknames besides the Peach State, including The Empire State of the South (since Georgia had one of the fastest growing industrial and economic sectors in the 20th century after Reconstruction) and the Goober State (a funny nickname since peanuts are a staple crop of south GA -- President Jimmy Carter I believe worked on a peanut farm growing up in Plains, GA!)
